What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic complementary therapy where pressure is applied - through the thumbs and fingers - to different parts of the feet and hands - known as “reflex areas” . Those reflex areas are connected to corresponding organs, glands, and systems of the body via the nervous system.
The concept of Reflexology was developed in Europe in the second half of the twentieth century but the practice of massaging the feet as an efficient way to bring the body and mind into balance dates back thousand of years and has been found all over the world.
Reflexology treatment is gentle, natural, and non-invasive. Its purpose is to encourage relaxation and to stimulate the body’s own healing processes. It helps to release blocked energy, it stimulates the movement of energy, it improves blood circulation, thus increasing the efficiency of organs and cells. This will in turn restore a healthy homeostatic balance to the body.
Reflexology improves health, enhances relaxation, boosts the immune system, prevents illness, and relieves pain for a better quality of life.

Why turn towards reflexology?

To relieve stress/anxiety:
Negative thoughts about past and future, worries caused by professional, financial or personal matters create stress. In the long term this can affect the structure and functions of your body. Reflexology promotes relaxation and offers the opportunity to break the cycle of bad patterns to release tensions, and to quieten your mind.

To cope with physical traumas due to physical work, injury, or surgery:
Reflexology stimulates the secretion of endorphins, natural analgesic substance. This helps to ease the pain while also increasing tolerance to pain.

To detox & maintain a good health:
Processed food, pollution, stress contribute to the building up of toxins in the body. Reflexology encourages the cleansing and elimination of toxins and waste, thus boosting the immune system and preventing diseases. Attending regular Reflexology sessions will benefit your health in long-term.

To balance and rejuvenate the body:
The purpose of Reflexology is to stimulate the body’s own healing process, thus bringing it back into balance. Reflexology promotes a better blood, lymphatic and nerve circulation and unblocks stagnant energy. With regular Reflexology treatments you will feel refreshed, energized and glowing.

FAQs
Q: What can I expect during a reflexology session?
The treatment is non-intrusive. Only shoes and socks are removed, and the ankles are uncovered.
You will be asked to lie down on a massage table or to sit on a comfortable chair with your feet raised.
Before the treatment, your feet will be cleaned and warmed up with a gentle massage. Gentle breathing exercises will also help to relax the body and prepare it for the treatment.
During the treatment, you may experience different sensations. You might experience deep relaxation; you might even fall asleep. Some areas may be sensitive; some patients might experience sharp pain in a particular area of their foot or hand, which may indicate that a part of their body is out of balance.
After the treatment, we will discuss the sensations you may have felt and my findings. A specific treatment plan will be designed for you for potential future sessions.
Some further advice and guidance will be offered to you to continue at home to enhance the benefits of the treatment.
