My calling for caring and healing started as I was growing up in France several decades ago. My first patients happened to be my closest family members. I remember bathing and massaging my grand-mother’s feet to help relieve the heaviness in her legs, and spending hours trying to release knots in my parents’ and siblings’ back.
How glad I was when they were asking me for this favour, I could challenge myself, experimenting with new techniques each time. I also recollect how satisfied I was, when they were feeling better and relaxed. But I considered this ability more like a hobby than a career prospect.
After engaging for over 15 years in a high stress professional career which brought me to travel and move around France and then Europe regularly, I reached a point of emotional and physical exhaustion, which led me onto the path of alternative medicine.
The first major influence in my choosing this path was a talented Italian natural healer named “Sante” (means health in French) whom I met in the south of France. We soon became friends and he helped me discover a spiritual world and one of energy of which I was unaware.
Several years later, after I moved to Ireland, I was advised to consult an Osteopath/therapist to address a chronic back pain I had been suffering from since my teenage years. Not only did this osteopath do amazing work at relieving the pain, but she also introduced me to Meditation, taught me how to quieten and relax my mind, and how to reach universal love and happiness in order to eradicate pain. Those encounters were crucial to my recovering a high mental and physical well-being and in my decision to change career path. After attending my first reflexology treatment that same year, I finally realised where my calling lay.
Needless to say, that the experience was astounding. I was amazed by the relaxing effect this treatment had on me, amazed by the reflexologist’s findings; she was able to tell exactly where the unbalance was to be found in my body, only by touching my feet. The following day, I felt a wave of comfort, lightness, relief, and well-being running through my whole body. I saw it as a sign and decided to start training in this extraordinary holistic therapy that is reflexology.
I consider knowing how to bring balance and relaxation to the body through those essential parts of the body that are feet, as one of the most noble and beautiful skills I could have learned and developed.
When I receive expressions of gratitude and I see smiles on my patients’ faces, I feel proud and fulfilled. I am very grateful to have been guided towards reflexology.
I am a fully ITEC certified and professional Reflexologist.
